“ Everything tasted FRESH like everything was made from scratch. We had the chips & salsa and they tasted like they were made 5 mins before being brought to us. My girlfriend had the chicken strips and I had a burger. Burger was good, classic cheeseburger. The chicken strips were good but nothing special. The fries were exactly how I liked them, crispy and not greasy. Our waitress was nice and was attentive. And inside this place is beautiful, with darker colors and a very nice bar. Would come back. ”
“ Visiting the Tyler area over Labor Day weekend and decided to eat brunch at the 1836. What a great choice, the atmosphere was amazing and the food/service was better. We started out with the crawfish queso appetizer. My wife had the Shrimp Tacos which she said were excellent. I had the Country fried "Yard bird", mashed potatoes with white gravy. It was delicious and lightly breaded. I even tried & ate the collard greens which I never tried before and actually became a fan. Highly recommended. ”
“ Delicious food and good music (not live), neat atmosphere with food served hot and quite fast. We had the Chicken Chimichanga. It gave new meaning to "rice and beans". ”
“ Great place to eat! Food is ecclectic and very tasty. It has a very Texas feel. Service was good. Bar was well Stocked and the place was homey. Will definitely Go to again! ”
“ 1836 is a local favorite for my fiancé and I. We go for lunch often and their weekend brunch is our favorite. We love bringing our friends and family from out of town here because of their diverse menu and atmosphere. My personal favorite is the costa chop salad, pictured below. I would love to give 5 stars if the service was consistently good. Staff is always nice there is no denying that. But sometimes it takes to long to be greeted at the table and/or servers have too many tables so refills may take long or service just lacks because of it. One of the owners is there often though and always wants to make sure you have a good experience. ”
“ The shrimp and grits had decent flavor, but I wouldn't call it authentic low country shrimp and grits, having lived there several times. The ratio of grits to everything else was wrong. I wish the sausage had been cut into smaller pieces and rendered for flavor. Walker was an outstanding server- attentive and polite without being overbearing. ”
“ Christian L was our server. Coming to the ambiance the place was set up nice and neat. The girl at front desk was courteous. We initially thought Christian was lost but he was checking on us regularly and also saw us almost finishing the free nachos and brought in the refill. We were full and wanted to work on our dishes so didn't get them. My friend wanted the scrambled eggs but he was served sunny side up. We didn't inform him about it. Fried Green Tomatoes - 5/5 was nice. The tomatoes were not fried and it was baked which is good thing. I was afraid it would be oily but was good. Bloody Mary - 4/5 I went I could sense some alcohol in it but usually that's not the case. The glass was set up neat and clean. Spicy Watermelon- 5/5 it was nice and tasty. Side of Queso - 4.5/5 it was nice and good. Chilaquiles de pollo - 4.5/5 dint enjoy the chicken Tinga on it. Beans has meat in it so substituted with fries. Overall a decent experience. Can visit again when back in town. Overall I would say a 4.5 star experience. ”
“ First visit and enjoyed the uniqueness. Menu is very different and diverse. Easy to find and park. Reasonable prices and good size servings. Fried shrimp was very good. Gumbo was not great very over seasoned couldn't eat it. Salmon tacos were different and cooked well. ”
